This past Sat. Feb 9, 2019, I attended a wonderful charity event called Ghost Stories 3 hosted by Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Supernatural, The Walking Dead) and his lovely wife Hilarie Burton (One Tree Hill). The money raised at the star-studded event went to benefit renovations for Astor Services for Children and Family in Rhinebeck, New York.

This was the third year that Hilarie and Jeffrey had hosted this spooky, yet fun event. They were not the only ones sharing some ghost stories with the audience. The duo was joined by a few of their celebrity friends including Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Mary Stuart Masterson (Benny and Joon, Fried Green Tomatoes), Clayne Crawford (Lethal Weapon), Michael Raymond-James (Once Upon a Time, True Blood), and Tyler Hilton (One Tree Hill).

The night started and ended with songs performed by Tyler Hilton. Hilarie and Mary Stuart then went on to read a story about two best friends who went looking for gold and ended up at a party full of ghosts! There were some fun audience participation skits as well, including a dating game type show and a mad libs funeral for one (un)lucky audience member.

Paul Rudd of course added some comedy to his ghost stories. He told stories of different ghosts including the dryer sock ghost who goes around stealing only one sock out of the dryer and the bobby pin ghost who steals all your bobby pins as soon as you buy them and only puts them back once you decided on a new hairstyle that no longer requires bobby pins.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan closed out the show by reading a few stories written by some of the children who attend Astor Services. The ghost stories were scary and creative. Jeffrey and Hilarie couldn’t have been more proud of the children who wrote them. It was a fun event and I cannot wait to see what they have in store for us next year!
