Jensen Ackles teased his involvement in ‘The Boys’ season 3 on his Instagram this morning saying, “I keep wondering what I’ll do…when ‘Supernatural’ finally ends this year. Then it hit me.” Ackles will join the cast as Soldier Boy, “The Original Superhero.”

“Soldier Boy, after fighting in WWII became a super celebrity and the mainstay of American culture for decades,” explains Eric Kripke, the show’s creator. “[Jensen] will bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role.” Kripke has even went on to say that we will see a side of Ackles none of us have seen before.

This announcement comes on the eve of when filming is set to resume for the actor’s current show, ‘Supernatural.’ Back in March, filming was halted due to concerns with COVID-19, and the cast had to be under mandatory quarantine in Vancouver for 14 days before they could resume filming for the remaining two episodes of the show’s 15th, and final, season run.

‘The Boys’ currently plan to return for filming their 3rd season in January 2021. Kripke says that the first four scripts are complete. He is still hoping for an appearance by Jeffery Dean Morgan if his own filming schedule will permit. It looks like ‘The Boys’ may be getting more than a little dose of ‘Supernatural’ next year!
