Just when you thought you knew exactly what Jensen Ackles would be doing after the finale of Supernatural, he has added another hat to a long list of career achievements.

A little before the first episode of Supernatural following the longest hiatus of its 15 year run aired, Ackles and his wife, Danneel, announced that they would be partnering with Warner Brothers to create their own production company. The company, named Chaos Machine Productions, will be developing original television programming for a wide range of broadcasting networks and streaming services.

The couple took to social media tonight to say that they are “Very excited about this” and “thrilled for the opportunity to continue to grow as artists and now producers under the mentorship and guidance of Peter Roth and the whole WBTV team.”  Danneel goes on to say, “many thanks to our good friends at Warner Brothers TV for the amazing opportunity and continued support. We are happy to be on this journey with you.”

Ackles has spent the last 15 years as one of the stars of CW’s Supernatural, and says that he feels Warner Brothers has given him some of the “finest and most supportive [relationships] I could have hoped for in the industry.” During a mandatory quarantine—before the cast and crew could resume filming the final two episodes of the beloved show—Jensen teased his upcoming participation in Season 3 of The Boys. The move will reunite him with Supernatual creator Eric Kripke, who is the current showrunner and executive producer of the Amazon Prime show. Ackles will be joining the cast as Soldier Boy: the original superhero. According to a statement made to a CW affiliate, Jensen said he has already began the fitting for his superhero costume in LA, which will be built over the next few months.

Also signing onto the team for Chaos Machine as Head of Development is Renee Reiff. Reiff has worked for Dreamworks and Marvel Annimation before joining DC as a creative executive. Since then, she has spent the last four years working on projects such as “Lucifer,” “iZombie,” “SuperGirl,” and the upcoming “Sweet Tooth”—just to name a few. According to Reiff, most of her career has been spent “focusing on creative development in television and feature live action and animation production.”

CR: Family Business Beer Company

This is not the first business venture that the couple has embarked on together. In 2018—along with brother Gino Graul—they opened the Family Business Beer Company near their home in Texas. The brewery has been one of the few businesses to be able to remain in operation during the pandemic.  Jensen attributes this, in large part, to the wonderful staff they have on board. During an interview on the Kings of Con podcast, he shared that the bartenders became canners, and their marketing team worked hard to get the beer out to stores in the Austin area.

Jensen also recently released an album with long time friend Steve Carlson. Fans are eagerly awaiting Vol. 2 of Radio Company, which according to Carlson, will be released soon.

Actor, Musician, Director, Business Owner, and Producer—it’s no wonder friends and fans alike say that there is nothing Jensen Ackles can’t do.
