Ofir Lobel hits graphic novel scene with “101 Reasons Why”

The genius behind the graphic novel series is writer/director/comedian Ofir Lobel. Best-known for Netflix’s “Blackspace,” Keshet’s “Trust No One,” and “A Wonderful Country,” he is making waves with his worldwide debut of the graphic novel and companion animated series “101 Reasons Why.” This will be Neko Productions’ first foray into graphic novel publishing and original animation, and Nerd Alert News is looking forward to it being available in fall 2023. The broadly humorous tome was edited by Peyton McDavitt, and has comic art direction from Bobbo Andonova (Bobbo Draws). It is being called a high-concept comic that is ripe for an animated adaptation.

Additionally, Neko founder and executive producer Lirit Rosenzweig Topaz has relocated Neko’s former Burbank headquarters into a souped-up facility in Sherman Oaks, California. With this move comes the engagement of graphic novel development guru John Shableski (Myra and the Drawing Drama, Manga Classics, We Survived the Holocaust: The Bluma and Felix Goldberg Story) and consulting producer Marlene Sharp (Young Captain Nemo, Sonic Boom, Young Captain Nemo, Snack World.) Established in 2010, Neko is also the animation studio behind video game giant Sega’s infectious fan-favorite web series “Sonic Mania Adventures” and its equally appealing companion “Team Sonic Racing Overdrive.” Both shows star the Blue Blur himself: Sonic the Hedgehog.

They are a team that is willing to go the extra mile to deliver a great product.” “Ask Dr. Ruth’s director endorsed Neko by saying Speaking of animation style, Neko is more chameleon than cat. In our biographical film ASK DR. RUTH, the animated sequences complement live action footage beautifully. The tone is respectful, serious, and wholly different from the studio’s previous streaming media and video game work.
