Fans of “Harry Potter” have been through a lot in the past years as the author of the series has come out with some hateful and bigoted comments. This past week. JK Rowling sent out a tweet demeaning and reducing trans women and trans community as a whole.

This left many in the HP Fandom feeling lost, unwanted, and most of all invalidated. Luckily they had Daniel Radcliffe. The star of “Harry Potter” came out in support of the trans community stating “trans women are women”. And encouraged readers to believe in the characters how they see it, stating “…if you believe that a particular character is trans, nonbinary, or gender fluid, or that they are gay or bisexual; if you found anything in these stories that resonated with you and helped you at any time in your life — then that is between you and the book that you read, and it is sacred.”

You can read the whole statement on The Trevor Project website.

Thank you, Daniel, for being an ally and advocate for the trans community. You are an example for all of us.
