The live-action “One Piece” adaptation is setting sail once again! Netflix’s “One Piece” has officially been renewed for Season 2. Since the series dropped on Netflix two weeks ago it soared to the #1 spot with 19.3 million views and 145.7 million hours of streaming.
Earlier today the official Twitter account for the series teased a big reveal at 1 pm PST. Creator Eiichiro Oda answered fans’ calls (literally) in a special video released by Netflix. Picking up his Transponder Snail Oda confirmed that a second season of the live-action series is on its way!

However, that wasn’t the only big reveal fans were treated to. The video ended with Oda saying “The Straw Hats will need a great doctor” followed by a quick sketch of Tony Tony Chopper the Straw Hats doctor. Longtime fans of the series know this means Season 2 will most likely cover the Arabasta and Drum Kingdom arcs.

With the reveal of Chopper, this means other key characters will soon be cast. One in particular is Chopper’s mentor and adopted mother, Dr. Kureha. Fans and cast members (Emily Rudd) alike have been petitioning for Jamie Lee Curtis to be cast as the foul-tempered Dr., with the actress herself jumping on board.
What’s Next For The Straw Hats?

In an interview with Deadline, “One Piece” executive producers, Tomorrow Studios’ Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements, announced conversations with Creator Eiichiro Oda and series writer Matt Owen on adapting a second season were already in the works. No news yet on when filming for Season 2 will begin. For now, you can watch or rewatch the Live-Action One Piece on Netflix.
