Trekkies will be boldly going to an exciting new “Star Trek” series: Starfleet Academy
Fans of the “Star Trek” franchise learned today that Paramount+ has an all-new original series in the works. “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” will follow a group of young cadets as they come of age in one of the most iconic places in the galaxy. Produced by CBS Studios, the show is set to begin production in 2024. It promises to introduce us to a new class of cadets who are pursuing their dreams of hope and optimism. The cadets will be under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves, and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.
This announcement was made today by co-showrunners and executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau. Admission is now open to Starfleet Academy! Explore the galaxy! Captain your destiny! For the first time in over a century, our campus will be re-opened to admit individuals a minimum of 16 Earth years (or species equivalent) who dream of exceeding their physical, mental and spiritual limits, who value friendship, camaraderie, honor and devotion to a cause greater than themselves. The coursework will be rigorous, the instructors among the brightest lights in their respective fields, and those accepted will live and study side-by-side with the most diverse population of students ever admitted. The “Star Trek” franchise has always been about exploring the unknown, discovering new worlds and civilizations, and boldly going where no one has gone before. Starfleet Academy has been an important part of the franchise, and fans have long been fascinated by the idea of young cadets learning the ropes and preparing for the challenges that lie ahead.
With “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy,” we will get to see a new generation of cadets learning what it takes to become Starfleet officers. The show promises to be an exciting and action-packed adventure, full of drama, suspense, and exploration. It will hopefully give fans a chance to see familiar faces from the franchise, as well as introduce new characters that we can root for and empathize with.
