“The Orville” fans will have to wait a while for season three, but it will be worth it!

Director Jon Cassar’s recent tweet was a small cause to celebrate as he shared that the cameras had started rolling last Oct. 21, 2019. This means that the principal photography has begun and Orville fans will just have to stay tuned for updates.

According to Seth MacFarlane, “the show has evolved and become more ambitious production-wise, I determined that I would not be able to deliver episodes until 2020, which would be challenging for the network. So we began to discuss how best to support the third season in a way that worked for the show.”
This was why the show moved from Fox to Hulu.

Mercer and the gang will return in the latter part of 2020. The move to Hulu will certainly be worth it. There will be 11 episodes and the length of each episode has yet to be announced. What we do know is that viewers can look forward to doubling production.

Cassar also added at New York Comic Con, “All I can tell you is that after last year’s [episode] ‘Identity’ — [Parts] 1 and 2 — which I’m sure you’ve all seen, is that Seth wants to make all this year all like that. So, I’m telling you right now, that it’s double the production schedule that we had before, and it’s going to be huge.”

Halston Sage (Lieutenant Alara Kitan) had to leave the show in season two. According to executive producer David Goodman, they would love to have her back if there is an opportunity. She would not come back as a regular, but hopefully, a storyline can work a miracle. Fans would love to see Alara back. Fingers are crossed.

Remember the “Bortustache”? Get to know Lt. Commander Bortus’ actor Peter Macon in our exclusive 2019 interview. No doubt more hilarity will ensue.
