National Geographic has done it again with their latest anthology series “The Hot Zone: Anthrax.”

Everyone remembers September 11th, yet not everyone still thinks about the Anthrax terrorist attack on the United States. The country was thrown into a panic and every time Americans went to the mailbox back in 2001, there was fear and apprehension with every opened envelope. Now, National Geographic takes us back through those days as the story unfolded, layer by layer, with “The Hot Zone: Anthrax” with actors Daniel Dae Kim and Tony Goldwyn. National Geographic productions are always very well done. They thrive on making the series believable. A lot of reading and research was done to make this as authentic as possible. The addition of some real news footage hit the viewer even harder. The series begins Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021.

Right from the start, the six-episode series puts the viewer at the edge of their seat. The show hooks the audience in and allows them to get attached to the characters. One can all imagine what it must have been like to be in those positions during those terrifying days. What makes this so chilling watching this is that it could happen. It DID happen. Especially to those who remembered September 11th. For many, this is re-living these events. For others, it’s new and scary.

About their characters, Daniel Dae Kim says that “most of the time we are on parallel paths, and when we come together, it should crackle!” We’re investigating along with the characters. It feels real. Watch FBI Agent Matthew Ryker played by Daniel Dae Kim as he relentlessly searches for who did it. Watch the reporters break the story. “Don’t be alarmed” Kim tells office workers as trailing right behind him are CDC workers in full protective gear. These scientists and FBI agents raced against the clock.

Tony Goldwyn shares that “Bruce’s story is fascinating. He’s not who he appears to be at all.” He did an amazing bringing Bruce Ivins to life.

Ivins, a brilliant microbiologist who becomes embroiled in the hunt to find the 2001 anthrax killer, works closely with the FBI to uncover who is behind the deadly anthrax letters, while his growing instability and paranoia give way to deeper unnerving discoveries.
