It’s official “Supernatural” has ended. That being said, nothing ever really ends, does it?

On November 19, 2020, the worst year of the 21st century, “Supernatural” said his final goodbye with a very interesting end.

The show was supposed to end in the spring of 2020, but due to COVID-19, production had to halt and everything had to be pushed back. Fans eagerly awaited the final seven episodes that began premiering this fall. The viewers got to see more monster of the week episodes than they were expecting and depending on who one asks that was either a good thing or a very bad thing.

When 15:18 aired, the fandom was shocked. Sadly we all had to say goodbye to our favorite angel. Castiel was indeed taken by the empty, though fast forward to the finale it alluded to the fact that he was freed. But yes, Cas was taken. However, his final words again left the fandom divided as he proclaimed how much he loved Dean Winchester. The true meaning has been left up to interpretation by each and every fan. It was incredibly gut-wrenching to say goodbye to Castiel in a quick and short moment.

15:19 was considered the “season finale” while 15:20 is the series finale. The boys did beat God, which again seemed to have felt a little rushed; like maybe things were overlooked. However, these last few episodes were filmed during COVID-19 and it was said a lot of changes had to be made to the scripts and filming. In the season finale, fans also said goodbye to baby Jack. Fans’ little boy had completely grown up.

It was revealed in another short, but wholesome scene, that Jack was indeed the new God. He explained he would not be hands-on and would leave mankind to thrive untouched. The season finale went on to end quite peacefully with a beautiful montage of the show, which means fans were quite scared for the series finale and what that would bring.

When 15:20 opened we got to see the start of a normal day for the Winchesters. The writers even blessed the fans with a shirtless Sam as a farewell gift. Everything seemed to be business as usual. Dean even went to a pie fare. The first half of the episode was a really sweet day in the life, then the boys took a case. They seemed to be fighting vampires, and we got to see some sweet beheadings and cool fight moves. The boys worked the case and eventually found where the nest was. They went to go save two small children and actually ran into an old vampire foe that was quickly killed by Sam.

The boys were then outnumbered by vamps and began to fight. There was very clear and obvious foreshadowing in the scene with the camera work. In the blink of an eye, Dean was impaled by a piece of rebar. The rest of the episode led to a very interesting and incredibly emotional turn that won’t be talked about too much in this article because the rest of the episode was done to give every fan a personal experience and erupt incredible feelings from each individual.

It did just that, “Supernatural” said goodbye in a shocking way that left fans speechless.

We had to say goodbye to the boys in this episode and though they are seen reunited in heaven it doesn’t remove the pain that was felt. 15 years is a long time, and fans are now mourning their losses.

The good news is that the fandom is still alive and well, it will be going strong for a very long time. Fans have always used social media, especially Twitter to stay connected and now more than ever.
