Kicking it off from where the last article ended, here’s the next lot of infamous Dean and Castiel moments.

7.21 “Reading is Fundamental”

Season 7 isn’t too monumental for the pair as Cas spends most of his time dead or insane. But this episode has some very well known scenes. Dean and Sam go back to the mental asylum where Cas is being held to see if he can help with the tablet. Since Cas is still suffering the after-effects of taking Sam’s burden, he comes up with crazy lines like, “Pull my finger.”, “He’s at a dog tack in Perth.”, “Boop.” and “I’m always happy to bleed for the Winchesters.” In the end, Cas leaves not-knowing what he’s going to do next.

8.07 “A Little Slice of Kevin”

In the aftermath of Dean and Castiel’s year in Purgatory, Dean is back but Cas isn’t. Dean starts to see him, first late at night through a storm, then along a road: Until Cas finally appears to Dean with the famous line “Hello, Dean.” Castiel helps Sam, Dean, and Mrs. Tran save Kevin from Crowley and retrieve the tablet. The episode also reveals flashbacks of their time in Purgatory and the events that lead to Cas staying there while Dean escaped. Dean always thought it was his fault that Cas couldn’t escape, but Castiel reveals at the end that he stayed there because he felt guilty, “I pulled away. Nothing you could’ve done would’ve saved me because I didn’t want to be saved. It’s where I belonged. I needed to do penance.” It is also revealed at the end that Cas is under Naomi’s command.

8.08 “Hunteri Heroici”

Cas decides he wants to become a hunter and joins Sam and Dean on the road. When interviewing a witness Cas hilariously tries to play ‘bad cop’. This episode is full of humorous one-liners where Dean tries to teach Castiel how to be a hunter. One famous one is when Cas says he’ll share a room with the brothers and Dean responds with, “Oh, okay. Yeah. We’ll have a slumber party and braid Sam’s hair. Where are you going to sleep?” Castiel reveals that he doesn’t sleep so he’ll watch over Dean.

8.17 “Goodbye Stranger”

Castiel returns after having been in heaven to retrieve the table with the help of Sam, Dean, and Meg. But Cas still seems off, and Sam and Dean don’t know about Naomi’s influence. This episode is well known for the heart-wrenching scene where Castiel fights Dean for the Demon tablet. At one point it seems like Cas has won and is ready to kill Dean. Castiel stands over a beaten and broken Dean with an angel blade ready, and Dean begs, “I know you’re in there. I know you can hear me. Cas, it’s me. We’re family. We need you. I need you.” This speech is enough for Castiel to break free of Naomi and heal Dean.

9.03 “I’m No Angel”

Dean and Sam race against time to find Castiel before the angels get to him. They spend most of the episode apart, but eventually, they find him in the house of a reaper. She stabs Cas with an angel blade before they get the chance to approach, but eventually, Dean takes her out with the same blade. He immediately runs to Castiel’s aid, cupping his face and calling his name. Dean looks shattered when he doesn’t reply, but Ezekiel heals him. They take Cas back to the bunker and he reveals that he slept with the reaper, April, when Dean asks if he had the protection he replies “I had my angel blade”. In the end, Dean has to kick Cas out otherwise Ezekiel will leave and therefore kill Sam.

9.06 “Heaven Can’t Wait”

Castiel is now working in a Gas n’ Sip so Dean goes to surprise him as a nearby case emerges. There’s an angel killing those who feel pain as he can’t grasp human emotions. While investigating, Castiel goes on a date, Dean drops him off and helps fix his clothes. As Dean goes back to the case he realises Cas is the next target. He shows up in time to help Cas defeat the angel. In the end, Dean tells Castiel that the angels aren’t his problem anymore so he continues to work at the Gas n’ Sip.

9.09 “Holy Terror”

When Sam and Dean investigate a case involving a group of angels, they are surprised to find Castiel already working on the case. “Cas is back in town.” The Angel exclaims and Dean is shocked “Seriously, did you- did he just say that?” After the trio go back to a bar for some drinks and Dean watches as Cas gets ‘hammered’ on his first beer as a human. But Dean again tells Cas that they can’t work together so they split up. Castiel is captured and tortured but he manages to free himself and call Dean. He tells Dean about the groups of angels going to war and that Ezekiel is dead. In the end, Gadreel (Ezekiel) kills Kevin and runs off in Sam’s body and Cas stays away from the brothers.

9.10 “Road Trip”

In the aftermath of Kevin’s death, Castiel goes to help Dean. Dean breaks down and tells Cas everything. The pair discuss a way to save Sam and decide that Crowley is their only hope. The unlikely trio takes a trip to find out Gadreel’s location, once they do they bring him to a dungeon so that Crowley can dig into his brain. At one point, Dean has to step away and talk to Cas so that he can try and ignore his brother’s screams. Crowley ends up possessing Sam and helps him kick Gadreel out. The episode ends with Cas watching on as Sam and Dean fight before the older brother leaves.

9.22 “Stairway to Heaven”

Named after the classic Led Zeppelin song, this episode brings the aftermath of Abaddon’s death as the war between angels reaches a climax. Castiel’s angels are killing themselves to take out Metatron’s angels. Things are very tense between Cas and Dean as Dean blames Cas for what’s happening while The Mark is adding to the anger. While Sam and Cas are away looking for heaven’s door, Dean finds and imprisons the reaper, Tessa. When he seemingly kills her, the angels under Castiel are angered. To make things worse, Metatron calls and offers Castiel’s angels a place in heaven as long as they’ll accept him as God. The angels say they will continue to follow Castiel as long as he kills Dean as justice for Tessa. Castiel refuses and the angels leave, so Cas ends up back in the bunker with the brothers. In the end, Gadreel appears and offers his help, but Dean, overcome by the effects of the mark, gravely injures him.
