HBO Max has some great content for nerds.
This January, fans can stream “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts,” “Peacemaker,” and so much more. “Harry Potter” fans will delight in seeing Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and other favorite cast members and filmmakers involved in all of the eight films. Let’s hope for a beautiful tribute to the late Alan Rickman. This special will take viewers back in time as they travel to Hogwarts to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the franchise’s first film, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” This special will tell the making-of story with interviews and cast-conversations and it will no doubt bring all the feels back.
Along with the Potter special, superhero fans can look forward to the premiere of the DC series “Peacemaker” that stars John Cena. This show will explore the origins of the character that Cena first portrayed in James Gunn’s 2021 film, “The Suicide Squad.” To gear up for that debut, the first episodes of DC’s “Harley Quinn,” “Titans,” and “Doom Patrol” will be available to sample for free as part of the “Best of DC” collection on hbomax.com/watch-free.
“Station Eleven” fans will catch the finale on January 13th. For those who haven’t caught the mini-series yet, it is worth the watch. Despite it being rather creepy because of the current pandemic, the post-apocalyptic show is reminiscent of “The Walking Dead.” Led by Mackenzie Davis, the cast is talented and the screenwriting is worthy. Catch up before the finale.
