Nerd Alert News has the remote controls set and movie theater tickets purchased for some fun TV and film projects being released starting next week. Now that the studios have figured out a way to safely film through this pandemic craziness, Netflix, HBO Max, and Columbia Pictures are bringing audiences the following entertainment.

OK, anime fans, are you ready for this one? We absolutely have to start out by chatting about the new “Cowboy Bebop.” What is your opinion? Are you excited about this new version? Or, are you a purist, and nothing will ever compare to the original? Either way, “Cowboy Bebop” premieres November 19th on Netflix and stars John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, and Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine. The trailer is out and so far it looks like it’s staying true to the feel of the original, which a lot of fans couldn’t be happier about. This Wild West version of a colonized solar system reminds us so much of “Firefly” and all the feels that go along with it. Would many Browncoats agree?
The project has been in the works since 2017 and unfortunately suffered a couple of setbacks. Cho had a knee injury in the fall of 2019, and then, of course, the pandemic hit and put everything on hold. Now it is FINALLY a go! All 10 episodes will be available to stream on Netflix Friday, November 19th. You aren’t going to want to miss this one, so get ready!

“Station Eleven” is set to premiere on December 16th on HBO Max. There will be 10 episodes and those who are suckers for anything post-apocalyptic are going to love it! The series stars Mackenzie Davis and Himesh Patel and it is based on the international bestseller of the same name by Emily St. John Mandel. It spans multiple timelines and tells the stories of survivors of devastating flu as they attempt to rebuild and reimagine the world anew while holding on to the best of what’s been lost. I’ve gotta say, the plot feels a bit surreal though considering the world is still battling the COVID-19 pandemic. Maybe this will put audiences even more on edge while watching it! Only one way to find out, make sure you’re there on December 16th to see how this story takes flight.

Who ya gonna call on November 19th? Yes indeed, it is time to call the Ghostbusters. But this time, it’s a new generation called to fight those pesky ghosts, including, of course, Slimer in “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” One of the most exciting things about this film is that this new young cast will be joined by some all-star familiar faces such as Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and yes, even Sigourney Weaver. The feel of it seems “Stranger Things” meets “Ghostbusters” and it is a fresh new take on the legendary paranormal-fighting heroes. What is extra cool is that it is directed by Ivan Reitman’s son, Jason Reitman! It goes without saying, we absolutely cannot wait for this one!

Last on our list, but certainly not least, “Lost in Space” returns December 1st with 8 episodes for its highly anticipated third and final season. Here is the Synopsis:
In the third and final season of Lost in Space, the stakes are higher than ever and the Robinson family’s survival instincts will be put to the ultimate test. After a year of being trapped on a mysterious planet, Judy, Penny, Will and the Robot must lead the 97 young Colonists in a harrowing evacuation — but not before secrets are unearthed that will change their lives forever. Meanwhile, John and Maureen — with Don at their side — must battle overwhelming odds as they try to reunite with their kids. The Robinsons will have to grapple with the emotional challenge of not just being lost — but being separated from the ones they love… as they face the greatest alien threat yet.
It sounds like one action-packed final season that is going to have everyone on the edge of their seat from beginning to end. AND, by the way, stay tuned to Nerd Alert News for an up-close interview with one of the new series regulars for this season.
