This year’s GO Campaign Gala, “GO Global Gala,” will be virtual, but the event will still include Official Go Ambassadors, Robert Pattinson, Ewan McGregor, and Lilly Collins. They will host the annual fundraising event on Sat. Oct. 24 at 6 pm PST.
The GO Campaign was established in 2006 with the goal of improving the lives of vulnerable children around the world. The Campaign provides grants to grassroots projects supporting their goals and mission. Past and current grants have supported programs to provide children and young adults with basic human needs such as shelter, clean water, food, medical care, and education. To date, the GO Campaign has supported 430 projects in 36 countries and directly impacted 160,705 children’s lives.
The GO Campaign relies on fundraising to support its grantmaking. Unlike many other similar campaigns, 100% of general public donations directly fund the programs. Also unique, donors can choose which project they would like to contribute to. This year’s Gala will also support global Covid-19 relief and racial justice.
The GO Gala is their largest annual fundraising appeal. The Gala includes musical performances, an auction, surprise celebrity appearances, and moving stories from programs around the world working to improve the lives of children.
This year will include musical performances by Haim, Judith Hill, Katharine McPhee, and David Foster. Ewan McGregor will be performing with girlfriend Mary Elizabeth Winstead in addition to hosting. His daughter Esther’s band, French Thyme, will also perform. Kaitlan Olson and Rob McElhenney from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” will make special appearances. The GO-Global Gala promises many surprise celebrity appearances this year as well.
Ewan McGregor shared in a statement, “In this time when we are restricted in our travel, it’s fantastic that GO Campaign still allows us to make a meaningful impact around the world. GO gives us the opportunity to connect with communities far and wide and remind us that we are all part of a bigger, global family.”
Robert Pattinson, now fully recovered from Covid-19, added, “I’m grateful that we can still come together virtually and now globally to help raise funds for GO Campaign and its mission to support families and children worldwide.”
While the Gala is free, donations are suggested and appreciated. The GO Campaign is also looking for auction item donations. If you have an item you would like to donate, contact information is on the event page. Registration is required to watch the virtual event on the 24th.
