Max Montesi has exciting projects in front of and behind the camera. He is busy producing and directing a short film titled “What We Can Do Without,” and is directing a music video for the band Ceremonial Bloodbath. “The 100” fans will remember him from his recurring role as Lindo. Somewhere in his spare time he also happens to be a boxing coach!

Just recently Montesi had the chance to play a vampire in the final episode of “Supernatural” called ‘Carry On.’ The talented actor, director, and cinematographer tells fans about his experience on set with stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.

Colleen Bement: “Supernatural” is returning for its final episodes starting October 8th and fans are as excited as they are devastated. You happen to be in the very last episode. What can you share about the mood of the cast and crew?

Max Montesi: Being a part of the last episode was a great experience, the crew are absolutely fantastic – it’s probably the most cohesive, efficient, and fun set I’ve ever been on. Jared and Jensen are just great, keeping everybody laughing into the wee hours of the night. And of course, it’s the end of a 15-year journey for everyone – I think most of them just can’t believe it’s finally ending.

CB: Just how fun was it to play a vampire?

MM: Oh man, it’s great. You get to kill people and get killed and come back to life. How much better can it be? Super fun.

CB: Had you watched “Supernatural” before?

MM: Absolutely. I hadn’t followed along as closely as some of the most die-hard fans, but the show’s been a Vancouver staple for the last 15 years. There’s no doubt that it will be missed.

CB: Your fans must be excited that you have some cool projects in the works. Can you tell us about any of them?

MM: Of course! Right now I’m producing and directing a short film titled “What We Can Do Without.” It’s centered around a revenge story that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. We’re shooting next week and will be releasing it in October, so look out for that. I’m also developing a feature film at the moment, and later this year will be directing a music video for the band Ceremonial Bloodbath.

CB: Your credits behind the camera are impressive. Which do you find more challenging…behind or in front of the camera?

MM: For me, it’s all part of the same creative outlet, and they each come with their own set of challenges. I think the more you know about each role on set, each department, the better off you are as a filmmaker. And actors should think of themselves as filmmakers – we’re all there to make one finished piece. It’s a collaboration, all the way down to the edit.

CB: “The 100” fans remember you from your recurring role as Lindo. Would you happen to have any stories from the set?

MM: I got to be there for the very last day of production on “The 100” too (well, second last day for Supernatural) – So I’ve seen two long-running series end this year. I’ve met so many great people from that show. Sachin Sahel, who plays Dr. Jackson, and Ben Sullivan, who you’ll remember from season 4, both train at the boxing gym where I teach. So we all get to be on this great show together and then get together to punch each other in the face (not recently for obvious reasons) It’s kind of beautiful.

“Supernatural” returns for its final episodes on October 8th.
