The Jensen Ackles directed fourth episode “Supernatural’s episode was packed full of emotion. This was actually the first episode of the season that was shot to allow enough preparation time, and viewers can see the “hiatus beard.” After a brief Halloween break, we come back to the aftermath of Rowena’s death, Chuck being denied by his sister, and the world almost ending.

The episode called ‘Atomic Monsters’ started with an action movie sequence in which Dean was hunting someone or something in the bunker, and we got the best cameo! Benny, the vampire was one of Dean’s soldiers in this sequence. Unfortunately, we had to witness another Benny death scene, when he died from his wounds: Clearly not a vampire in this world. Sam was an evil entity who appeared to have continued drinking demon blood that was wreaking havoc that Dean was trying to stop. After all of the bloodshed, and seeing Sammy kill Dean by snapping his neck, we found out that it was actually one of Sam’s dreams. Let’s hope it’s not prophesying!

The boys got called to a seemingly easy “monster of the week” hunt where a vampire seemed to be loose and of course, was wreaking havoc amongst cheerleaders. While this was happening, Chuck decided to visit an old friend for some guidance. This episode was both heartbreaking and empowering. Becky Rosen, the obsessed “Supernatural” fan returned and we saw her living a quiet and happy life with a husband and kids; until Chuck showed up.

Sam and Dean continued to investigate the death and another disappearance when they started to take interest in a teenager from the Beaverdale High. The Winchesters realized that his father may actually be the person of interest after seeing his car on security tape.

Just like any good episode there was a good plot twist. In standoff at the boy’s house, we found out that the son was actually the vampire and the parents were trying to cover things up. A very sad twist came next when the boy offered himself up to the Winchesters to be killed so he would not hurt anyone else. It was weirdly a sad moment because yes, he was a monster, but he didn’t choose to be.

Spotlight on the music as Dean did what needed to be done by killing the young vamp, while a soulful song was played during the scene. That song, of course, was created and sung by none other than the directed himself, Jensen Ackles and was called Sounds of Someday off his exciting debut album Radio Company.

While this was all happening, Chuck was still with Becky trying to get his mojo back and Becky realized that he was only using her to boost his ego. She wouldn’t stand for it, and commanded him to write to make himself feel better. Chuck sits right down at her computer in the house creating an awkward situation. It was so nice to see Becky on screen as a strong, empowered, and happy woman; at least until Chuck came along. He asked Becky for her opinion of his new work, she admitted that hated it. He returned to her computer and wrote more. After reading the last draft she was absolutely devastated by what he had put onto paper on what he was going to do to the boys in his story. She was in tears and fans can only assume that this was a warning for us on what was to come.

Becky’s family came home to find Chuck in their house and promptly vanished from existence in front of her. Hysterical, Becky demanded that Chuck return her family to her. He told Becky that he was actually God before turning her to dust.

The last scene was filled with emotions as Sam is clearly struggling. It looks like “Supernatural” fans are in for some dark times ahead. This episode was quite emotional, as most of these final episodes are expected to be like this season. One can only hope that Chuck doesn’t mess with the boys too much.
