Recently NaN had the chance to review the romance/adventure film Another Version of You starring Kristopher Wente as Diggsy. Known for “Lodge 49,” and “Turn: Washington’s Spies,” the Pacific Northwest raised actor took time out of this busy schedule to chat with us.

MR: Diggsy makes a rather intense choice to leave his life as he knows it and search for another version of his life in a different universe. Do you think he really thought about his decision or was he acting on impulse?
KW: Like many Act 1 heroes, the call to the journey seems like a promise that Diggsy thinks about deeply/has thought about all his life: Can I ever have her? What would that be like to have her? etc. Through the journey he begins to realize that the quest will take more than he bargained for, so I believe Diggsy went through a waking up of sorts that exposed his impulses.
MR: Would you give up your entire life to go search for something in another universe knowing you could never return?
KW: Yes.
MR: Such a definite and solid answer. So many questions as to why. I feel this could be a whole crazy rollercoaster of nerd discussion on its own.
MR: When I first started the movie I thought it would wind up being the typical predictable love story ending, however, to me, it was more of a journey of self-discovery. Was that your takeaway from it as well? And did you find taking the journey with Diggsy was helpful to you personally?
KW: Yes, we found that theme in the shooting of it because that simply was the energy I brought and felt most connected to regarding Diggsy as a character. Regarding me personally: it was a challenge- and those often end up being helpful.

MR: What can we see you in in the future? Any fun projects on the agenda for you?
KW: Next year- the Russo Brothers’ “Cherry” I play First Sergeant Hightower.
Fun project: ”Prophet,” an episodic about spiritual tribalism in 1830s Frontier America that follows the rise and fall of Joseph Smith, and his people, the Mormons.
MR: Those both sound like fun projects to me. I am excited to see them! Will definitely be keeping an eye out for them.
MR: What is your current go to nerd guilty pleasure?
KW: I watch “Lord of the Rings” and I paint.
MR: LOTR is one of my top three guilty pleasures. The first of the trilogy movies was filming 20 years ago! Actor and painter? Now I have many questions about art to ask you.
Thanks for taking the time to sit down and answer these questions. We are excited to see your upcoming projects.
