‘And Just Like That’ Production Begins In New York City.
HBO Max releases the very first image of the new chapter of the “Sex and the City” saga. Sarah Jessica Parker reprising the role of “Carrie Bradshaw,” Cynthia Nixon as “Miranda Hobbes,” and Kristin Davis as “Charlotte York.” Their attire in the photo throws us back to the character’s iconic styles with Carrie’s always unusual taste in clothes and shoes. She also happens to be the only one of the three who is smiling. The new storyline focuses on these three friends who are navigating the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.
Noticeably absent is Kim Cattrall “Samantha” and speculation has it that she and Parker are still on the outs. A quote from a TVLine article sums it up well. Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life… They’re trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her 50s in New York. So it should all feel somewhat organic, and the friends that you have when you’re 30, you may not have when you’re 50.
Other cast members include “Big” himself, Chris Noth, Sara Ramírez, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, Willie Garson and Evan Handler. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Julie Rottenberg, Elisa Zuritsky, John Melfi and Michael Patrick King are Executive Producers, while the writers will include King, Samantha Irby, Rachna Fruchbom, Keli Goff, Julie Rottenberg, and Elisa Zuritsky.
Parker released a little teaser video earlier this year to spark the excitement, and now the show is officially underway. The 10 episode mini-series has yet to announce an air date.
