Angel Studios has announced its first theatrical film and fan-favorite “Lord of the Rings” and “Stranger Things” actor Sean Astin joins the cast of the sci-fi thriller “The Shift.” One of our favorite baddies, actor Neal McDonough (Yellowstone, Minority Report) has also been added to the highly anticipated project. The list of talent shines with Kristoffer Polaha (Wonder Woman 1984, Mad Men), Rose Reid (Finding You), and it’s being helmed by Writer/Director Brock Heasley. Previously announced cast includes John Billingsley (Star Trek: Enterprise, Emily The Criminal) Jason Marsden (Boy Meets World), Nolan North Uncharted), and Emily Rose (Haven), along with Liz Tabish, Paras Patel, and Jordan Walker Ross from “The Chosen.”

Filming has begun in Birmingham, Alabama, and according to Heasley, The rich textures of Birmingham provide the perfect canvas on which to tell this story. It’s a story about a guy’s (Polaha) harrowing journey through the multiverse back to what matters most to him (Tabish), and the formidable adversary he battles at every turn (McDonough).

Fans know Angel Studios from its crowd-funded successful streaming series “The Chosen,” and fans look forward to this original theatrical release. Producer Ken Carpenter talks up the movie by saying Brock has written a tight script that ushers us into a fascinating world, with well-drawn characters. He’s got a strong vision for this picture, and we’re very happy with the ensemble of talent that the story has attracted.

Stay tuned to Nerd Alert News for the trailer when it’s available.
