Sci-fi Weapons.com put together quite the list of guys put together the “ultimate arsenal of reality-warping weapons in order to compare which is the most powerful sci-fi weapon in the universe.” They actually worked with physicists and engineers to break down the iconic weapons that we all know so well. Check out how they break down the weapon’s “energy of devastation in joules, an energy measurement of work done.”

When we think of Captain Kirk the power of the phaser comes to mind. “Firefly’s Malcolm Reynolds’ steady revolver is seriously a piece of art in the sci-fi worked. The Ma’Tok Staff from “Stargate” could do some damage. Of course, the Death Star could disintegrate a planet! We noticed that “Space:1999’s Stun Gun was missing from the list. We would like to assume it is because the people of Moonbase Alpha tried hard not to kill anyone, although our beloved John Koenig had a bit of a temper. The stun setting was usually good enough.

We asked our readers what sci-fi movie or TV show had the coolest weapons. “Star Wars’ lightsaber and original “Star Trek’s phaser are the classics. The laser fun from “Space:1999”, Gary Oldman’s badass Zorg ZF-1 Pod weapon from “The Fifth Element,” Predator” had something scary, and of course the phaser from the original “Trek.” A fun from “Blake’s 7” got a nod, and yes, Ripley’s Caterpillar Power Loader was probably one of the most creatively badass weapons ever used in science fiction.
